The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic in NU Health Care consists of two BUP centers, emergency services, an eating disorder clinic, and a unit for small children aged 0–5 years.

The BUP clinic for 0–5 years is located in Uddevalla and is responsible for the assessment and treatment of children under 6 years who need the expertise of specialist psychiatry. The clinic team consists of psychologists, special educators, nurses, secretaries, unit chief physicians/child neurologists, and unit managers. We offer a comprehensive assessment of the child's difficulties.

The purpose is to create an understanding of the child's way of functioning, feeling, and behaving in interaction with parents and peers. This understanding forms the basis for future interventions to provide the child with the best conditions for their continued development together with the parents. In addition to assessments and investigations, we offer psychological and pharmacological treatment, psychoeducational interventions, and support for parents as well as consultations with healthcare neighbors.

Treatment for small children is an underserved area where both knowledge and guidelines are lacking. This has been highlighted significantly in recent years, and development work is ongoing both nationally and in the Västra Götaland Region. In NU Health Care, we have been working for many years with treatment for this target group. Among the patient groups referred to us for treatment are children with anxiety problems, attachment and interaction difficulties, and children with trauma symptoms.

The clinic has seen very positive development in recent years with high staffing, high availability, reduced waiting times, and a great opportunity to tailor assessments and treatments to each child's and family's unique life situation. You will be a colleague of a specialist psychologist and a psychologist in specialist training. We have allocated time for joint professional development and collaborate in various contexts concerning our target group.

Job Responsibilities

As a psychologist, you will be offered a stimulating and varied job. Your responsibilities in the team consist of assessment and treatment work directed towards individuals and families, as well as consultative work in relation to healthcare neighbors and partners. In the team, you and your psychologist colleagues provide the psychological knowledge and ensure that working methods are updated and follow national and regional guidelines.

The BUP clinic strives to maintain high competence among employees; you have access to supervision, professional development, and further education. We are working to implement the career development model for psychologists and to specify it based on our operations.

Qualifications

Licensed psychologist is a requirement. Experience and interest in assessment and treatment work directed towards small children as well as other child psychiatric work are meritorious. We work a lot with interpreters, which makes good knowledge of the Swedish language important.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

The clinic is located in central Uddevalla, just a few minutes' walk from the train and bus.
